Today is the second day of the internship. Everyone has already gotten a chance to get to know someone else from the group.
Our day started out as usual - after breakfast everyone took half an hour quiet time with only God and ourselves. This is a wonderful time to prepare our hearts and minds before the day begins. After the quiet time we gathered again as a group. Today we are divided into small prayer group of 3 with the same sex but from different countries. We spent some time talking and praying for each other in small groups and we will be doing this for the rest of the internship. It is a great way to support one another.
The teaching section today was lead by Langdon, who taught us EXX courses. We went through 5 gospel stories we can use when sharing about Christ with others, they are: Grace (story of free gift), Man (story about unacceptable sin), God (substitute story about God's love and just), Christ (story of great transaction) and Faith (story of rescue). All these 5 stories were easy to understand and illustrate the character of God and our relationship with Him. After hearing each and every one of the stories, we had chance to practice telling the stories with person next to us. This is a wonderful way of studying and memorizing the stories.
In the afternoon we all went to town for the first time. Our assignment for this trip was to meet local people and talk to them. We were asked to listen more than speaking, try to get to know some Fijian people and their culture. We were divided into groups of 3 to go out. In this way we have accompany and we were asked to stick to our groups.
We spent about 2 hours walking around talking to people. We found that Fijian people are very friendly and easy to talk to. Mostly we went to shops and both talked and even got some local things we appreciated. They were very patient to explain things to us. However, there were a few that talked much about Kava, which is a strong part of their culture. Luckily, we learned something about Kava on the first day so we knew what it is.
The evening today was free for us. We kept getting to know each other by talking, playing instrument or games, or even dancing. Sarah Maba taught us a worship dance yesterday for us to perform in Vanuatu next week. It is a lot of fun!
The days are passing by quite fast but we all felt excited about what is happening to every one of us everyday and look forward to seeing what God is going to do in our lives.
